Hi David,
I've been out round hardware stores & on the net
looking at telescopic items.
I need to stop the camera from rotating as it would if I
just put a pipe inside a pipe
& used the inner pipe as a piston forced up by
compressed air. I'm thinking of having
a stainless steel bottom tube with a solid oval shaped
fiberglass rod inside.
The bottom of the rod would be round to fit the inner
diameter of the pipe & at the top of the
pipe would be an oval orifice for the rod to move through.
I'm thinking of ditching my thought of a
pole that falls horizontally backward, as if I use the
latest video camera idea, I'll want the camera
in a position where I can record from it as well as just
function as a periscope.
Thanks for the link on the stainless tubing. I'm not sure
what dimentions I need yet.
Alan

periscope
Alan, I just sent you an ebay ad for
stainless tubing I intend to use for a camera periscope. Perhaps you could use
some
too.

I've just put a leading bid of $52- on a
Camcorder, with the thought of
canabilizing it for a periscope.
The idea being to pressure proof & mount the
lense & possibly the focus drive mechanism
on a retractable pole, stick the body of the
camera in the hull somewhere & the LCD screen
in front of me. & Hugh thinks he's thrifty. (
the Comsub 600 he bought last year must have been a bargain)
I'm hoping this will be easy.
