On another note I'm starting to lean twords a connecting pontoon arrangement with an outboard engine for powering to dive locations.
Hi Brian. I've been following your progress and it sounds like you're doing good on the sub.
I had originally planned on a pontoon section with outboard that separates from the sub while diving.
I designed a quick connect device that could be easily attached on the surface. It was basically a pyramid shaped socket and plug that mated together. The two parts ( sub and pontoon section ) would have been pulled into place by two large turnbuckles.
Then I got creative and added a compressor, generator, sun shade, and on and on till I ended up with a full size pontoon boat !
I still think the pontoon section is a good idea for motoring on the surface.
I've often wondered why we have never seen an outboard in combination with a psub.
I have designed my sub to accept a small outboard ( 20 Horse ) so the engine can be easily removed by a surface companion boat's crew and re-mounted after the dive is over.
Steering will be done with the existing rudder control. Just an extra linkage arm.
Keep working on the sub, It's looking good. !
