Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] internal battery pod corrosion

Good Morning All,

A high solids Novalac Epoxy usually resists battery acids well in my experience.

I have used some of this in 100% solids in Forklift Charging areas in plants with good success.

What I usually do is contact an Industrial and/or Marine Rep for the paint Company for a spec.

Best Regards,

Jim K

I would never consider galvanised for that application. Terne plate is what is used - or used to be used - for process equipment that had to hold dilute sulfuric acid, so I just thought... Not sure it's weldable, come to think of it.

Marc,
There is galvanized steel (coated with zinc) but it is a pain to weld and
doesn't resist sulfuric acid well.  Probably easier than dealing with thin
lead sheeting is just prepare the surface properly and give it several good
coats of epoxy primer and paint.

Is terne plate (lead-coated steel) still available?
