RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] ExtendAir scrubber cartridge

Frank,

It was an integrated system that included a buoyancy control system (integrated weights, safety vest, and counter-lungs that looked like a large vest), gas cylinders, scrubber, and control circuits in a backpack the size of a set of double tanks, and an optional full diving hard hat helmet.  The end of the Cold War and feature creep cost shelved the project after it was ready for operational use (i.e. didn’t move from EX-19 to Mk-19 but the design is there if ever needed in the future).

12 hour duration ? That's pretty good. I always thought re-breathers had a much shorter duration. How big are the units the divers had to carry ? ( just curious )
