And I should clarify this, so others following the conversation don't get confused. The standard frequency for an underwater beacon in the case of a disabled sub is 37.5k. This is a completely different unit then the EPIRB beacon which has also been talked about and is used on the surface and operates at 406mhz (as of February 1, 2009).
