Yes, absolutely you need
to be careful. I once got an illuminating little lecture from the
local Swagelok distributor, and what is so dangerous about O2 is that all the
potentially fatal mistakes are all things that are easily missed for lack of
knowing better. For example, you can cause a fire if you install a ball
valve instead of a needle valve. And an O2 fire is not a run-of-the-mill fire.
There's an invaluable
little book by Vance Harlow called "Oxygen Hacker's Companion". I would
recommend you do nothing at all with O2 until you've read that.
