If you choose to go the route of PDF's, and you don't like the bloating of
Adobe Reader, try this app.

You can probably include it with any CD's offered for sale.
You can also offer the app online as a freebie along with any downloads.

I can do either. Are you thinking of selling the book? If so, a big
PDF on a CD-ROM is OK. If you aren't thinking of selling the book, then
a HTML file on the website is best.

Alan,
HTML or PDF are really the only universal methods that pretty much
ensures everyone will be able to view the material. Since we've got a
wide audience, use whatever tool will likely be accessible to everyone.
Since PDF files can get big, if you go that route split the book into
small chunks.
