Not saying this is the only one you could use, but im using ER70S-6. Trade
name is Lincoln Supramig ultra.
Minimum tensile strength 70,000psi (the same as the "GR70" on your base
material.
Low Hydrogen (mig is generally low hydrogen anyway)
Low silicon deposit on the completed bead
and according to the box, "provides better wet-in for applications subject
to fatigue" (like a submarine under pressure cycling).
Sorry, i cant help with the South Africa subs though.

Could someone be so kind as to let me know what wire I should use in my mig
welder to weld my main pressure hull together as I received it tacked it is
astm 516 gr70.And allso if anyone possibly knows of someone else who has
built a simular sub in Africa.
