Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] heated sub
You folks must be doing something wrong because the link as posted below
is fine. Just cut and paste it into a browser, or keep your mail open
and type it into a browser. This particular scrubber is rather
extravagant requiring machining of ABS and using stainless steel mesh.
Much simpler designs are available by using regular PVC. Check out the
slides I put together for the 2005 convention regarding life support
which will help you understand the basics to design your own scrubber.
Then check out the rebreather world (type home-built scrubber into your
web browser) for various home-built scrubber designs that rebreather
enthusiasts have come up with.
For ease of use, replacement of chemicals, and storage, there's nothing
that compares to Micropore's ExtendAir canister system. Micropore reps
visited with us at last years convention and we have an ongoing project
to modify their rebreather system for sub use using forced air via a
small fan.

Hey Frank:
I posted this link a few months ago, but I'll post it again because it
sounds like this is what you're planning:

It's a homebuilt CO2 scrubber. I'm wondering if someone could also
fill it with "Damp Rid", or some other kind of desiccant, to help
control moisture. It would be interesting to have a system that passed
cabin-air through the drying canister, then through the CO2 scrubber,
then injected O2 before blowing it over the viewports to keep them clear.
