Hi Dean. Here's a quick sketch of the electrical actuated dive plane/rudder
design I'm thinking of.
The components are fairly cheap and easily replaced. The controls are
simple toggle switches. The design is simple to make water tight, with no O
rings or complicated machining of stainless parts etc.
The actuators run $100 each or less, the fiberglass is about $10, and the
bellows I don't know yet but can't be much.
With my electrical thru-hull design shown earlier, no leaks unless the
epoxy seal fails, and even then, the valve can be shut off.
To me, fewer parts means less chance of failure, and lower
maintenance.
