Jay, That makes since to me, perhaps if it was thinner or a poured urethane gasket, poured into a conical shaped mold, like the one used on my large front viewport, between the retaining ring and the acrylic for a soft connection but in a custom conical mold . Here are the pictures I had been planning to show Frank of the poured soft gasket that was used in my subs large front viewport.
