According to some data Dan has from the Captain, the sub sold to Dr. Michael Smith and named the Trilobite, was K-250 sub number #119, and built in 1976. Interesting to note that the Trilobite has the same small conical windows on the sides of the conning tower that my sub and the Brook's K-250 has. They also routed the rear MBT vent line over the port side conning tower viewport like mine. My sub was likely made right before #119 and it has a conning tower saddle support, and the #119 does not. So it looks like the Trilobite was the first K-250 to be built with out the saddle support. Looks like Gregg Cottrell was involved in the refit. I see they installed a small viewport in the rear head and they didn't add length to the hull. I don't know if you must have a Facebook account to view these albums or not, but you might not. I hope to see more pictures of the finished sub in the future. It was interesting to see the Trilobite in it's original configuration, on the original trailer, painted orange. There must of been a great sale on orange paint. ;)' http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=41342&id=30230998422#/album.php?aid=41342&id=30230998422 http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=30230998422&ref=pb#/album.php?aid=43533&id=30230998422 Regards, Szybowski No trees were killed in the sending of this message; however, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. |
