Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Non-Submarine window seal - design guidelines

I don't think there is that much of relevance in the Stachiw book.
Most of Stachiw book covers Acrylic as a pressure boundary material,
which is unsuitable for this application. There are a number of
books for design pressure vessels for similar application (more than
for design submarine pressure vessels), I think it would be more
appropriate to seek out those texts instead. But then again, I've
bought a 500 page book before just to get information from 3 pages.

Also, there is a lot of information we are not being supplied.
Thermal properties of the construction materials. Operating
temperatures. Why a dome window, I think this will complicate
things a bit vs a flat window.

Search on Amazon for boilers and you'll find a lot of books. Find
the ones that have information on inspection windows. Or search
for quarts inspection windows for pressure vessels and high
temperature applications. Some of the books about design
nuclear reactor pressure vessels may also include inspection
windows. Quartz inspection windows have been used in high
temperature/high-pressure applications before, this is where
I would start.

Finally, as far as I can tell this doesn't have anything to do
with submersibles or submarines and it's not a personal project
(this a corporation with an impressive board of directors).
Just saying...

Ian.
