RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Hawkes Presentation.
The first "Deep Flight" has no air cooling conditioner and was made from a material insulate the interior.
The Cabin is very small and one person generate at least 150 watt heat.. The scrubber and electronics
add some watts of heats.
Sgt.Peppers has a simillar small cabin size. And I drive her in T-shirt pretty warm even in winter
in the North Sea! And Peppers is a 1/3 inch steel boat not a thermos can..
I can imagine that in a such small sub made from 2 inch or so insulate material in tropic water your blood boil after two hours or so.. But maybe I am complete wrong..
No Ballast Tanks: Means you can no open the Dome on the surface without a crane or monthership.
So the concept is : A sub - a crane - and a mothership. And good weather.
In my view of points a very expensive and time consuption solution.
No drop weight: Is that true? In my view like drive a car without a belt.
Single Seater: This expierence we have also, a single seater is fun for one, a double seater is fun for one and thousands guests. So in statistic maths it is 100,000 % more fun.
Fast Driving: We never run Peppers full speed longer than some second. Only for crash stops. Emile make a video with Peppers full speed in Lake Hemmoor running down a hill. If you like to make such a video onshore just catch a motorbike and run it fast - in a snowstorm during the night.. I did the same expierence during a fast tank blow surfacing in 120 feet - the sub pop out of the water - and I had no idear were..
On the other side - yes Deep Flight and his follow ups are heardbeating designs, I would love to drive it.. :-)
