If you look closely at the presented depiction of the PVC hydrophone on the left of the special projects page (the one that faces the camera), you will see exactly why this back wafer was changed to aluminum. It cracks badly under stress if made from plexiglass. The main image that first fills the screen sure looks great...but time will take its toll as this is still the same unit shown after a short time duration.
