Although this technology is in its infancy, A large push can be seen with the higher gas prices of installing a hydrogen generator on your car. I do not understand fully how this is done, but it seems very close to how o2 and hydrogen were seperated aboard a nuke sub minus the high voltage. This would be an accident waiting to happen at this stage, but I forsee this becoming more common place in the near future. If one can produce his own o2 safely of course, longer deployments could be the result. This also could be how AIP is accomplished in that this hydrogen is burned or added to the fuel mix and the o2 used in this as well, or stored for breathing in reserve banks.
