[PSUBS-MAILIST] Navy SUBMISS/SUBSUNK EVENT response steps

Hi,

I've been reading through the online copy of "Safety of Tourist Submersibles" by
Committee on Assessing Passenger Submersible Safety and National Research Council.

One section I came across was addressing what the Navy/government response is to
a submarine or submersible (military, tourist or research) being reported at
missing or sunk.  If a psub goes get into problems and the right people are
notified, then I think this is the type of response we might expect:

Towards the end of the section, it lists the documentation these people have
to gather about the downed submarine in order to help them.  It includes:

Booklet of General Plans
Training Aid Booklets
Submarine Certification Boundary Book 
Damage Control Book
Ship Salvage Drawings
Ship Systems Manuals
Steam and Electric Plant Manuals

While I'm sure some of these apply to nuclear submarines only (steam!), it
does give a sense of the documentation we should be generating and have
available in order to make it possible/easier for an emergency resuce-salvage.
