Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] New Submarine Project... Need Input.

Frank I believe I will need some kind of heat.
My first thought was to heat with small heater, then I
started thinking about the newer infared heated vests out
there today. These won't do much about fogging but the power
consumption should be a lot less.
For sure a good insulation job will be in order and that is going to be
tricky. Needs to insulate well, no dust, fire concerns it could be a fuel
and if burned or melted bad air lots of problems
I just love it hheheh

I also was thinking about building a passive de-humidifier using the cold
water as the condensor. maybe dreaming, lots to play with\

OK speedy. If you can make it, the beer's on me. You've got some nice innovations on your sub, and I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'm welding the window and hatch frames in right now, and waiting on Greg to finalize the plexiglass disks. Should be doing the FPR for the rear fairing soon, and then continue with the front end.
Are you going to have any kind of heater on your sub ? The water temp here is 54F to 57F and I'm anticipating fogging on the windows. Hopefully the re-circ fan will prevent it, but I may be looking for a heater solution later. I wonder if an air dryer would be of any use.
Another thought I had was using a vacuum pump to test the hull integrity. At some point I'll be sending the sub down empty on remote control, but maybe pulling a vacuum on the hull would be of some use before then. Anyway, better get back to the shop. See ya later, Frank D.
