Ken, This is what started this whole thing in the first place! I found an article written by some hackers that had taken one of these "Dolphin Ears" apart...It is really only a piezo element glued to a wafer of plexiglass with an "o" ring sandwiched between another wafer of plexiglass that has a thru hole for the elemets interface cable to pass thru...thats all! The piezo element says in a small bubble of air and so has a resonance chamber. Stephen pearce sent one down and it flooded at a mere 19 psi or about 30FSW. Don't buy one...build it! It will cost you less than $5.00! The amplifier is just two 386 audioamps liked together to amplify this signal high enough to hear well! All the electronics can be found at radio shack...better still, if soldering is not your bag, get a hold of a portable Karoake machine...the things you sing with...and just use it instead. Within it is contained all the electronics needed to amplify and listen to this signal and is portable to boot! The inner workings of the "dolphin ear" is really just a well kept secret. Guitar pickups work just the same! David Bartsch
