Hi James,
I fitted all my viewports to the conning tower prior to attaching the tower
to the hull. It was much eaiser for me that way. Unfortunately it delays
installing the conning tower and therefore that "looks like a sub now
moment".

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Don't worry, im not burnt out yet!
But it is amazing how everything seems to take a lot longer than you think.
I should be a builder.
I think the major problem is that i messed up with the rings so instead of
making the required 7, i eneded up making 11! doh! Its a long story but
i had to make 4 again. Installing the rings is also a misserable job
because it takes all day for just one and you've still just got a pipe.
Anyway, its like you all say a good learing experience. Plus of course i
enjoy the work. The rings are now done so once the tower is on and
viewports are in (next job) i should feel like i'm getting somewhere.
Also there is that pesky "work" business that i have to go to wasting 7
hours of sub building time a day. oh well, better get on with it.

Enjoy your week off work and the time your constructing your sub. What Dean
says is the way it was for me also. Enjoy the build. Building a sub is a
great learning experience and should be quite enjoyable. If you push to
hard your sub will most likely end up like the many uncompleted hulls out
there. Don't get burnt out. Not to crush your enthusiasm, but when my hull
was completed, I was somewhere between one third and half done with the
build.
If your starting to get burnt out, set it aside for a while but don't set it
to far out of sight. I didn't set a launch year until it was painted, and
set the month when the wiring was finished. I spent three years on mine.
Just last night I was making some wiring alterations in my sub. Sitting
crossed legged in that tiny space, I found myself recalling the many hours I
spent in there, in that same position, building it and anticipating it's
operation. It felt good.

Thanks for that. I have made 2 extra ports, so im going with Jon
Farringtons idea for the front, and i think a slight downward angle on the 2
rear ports. I agree, they probably wont be that usefull, but i kind of
think they might be able to cover a "blind spot". They have to go somewhere
anyway. Im pretty sure thats what im going to do. Starting this weekend.
In fact, i may take the week off work next week to crack on with things. Im
dissapointed at my slow progress, particually seeing how Frank is storming
along with his!
are there any pictures of yours i could see anywhere?

I couldn't see the value in having the two ports in the rear so I did like
Jon Farrington did but omitted the rear one and put it at about 2 o'clock so
the person laying down can look at an upward and downward angle as well.

Hi All.
Quick question for Dan and K350 owners.
I've finally got the rings complete this weekend Im ready to install the
rear side viewports together with the 2 extra ones i have made.

The plans seem to show the rear ports at a slight downward angle, but there
is no indication (that i can see) anywhere that says what this angle is.
Dan, looking at your pictures of Persistance, it looks like you've put yours
smack bang in the middle?
Any thoughts as to the position of these ports before i start hacking holes?
Middle? Slight downward angle? More of an angle??
The 2 extra ones are going to go in between frames 2 and 3 as Jon Farrington
did on his.

I think Dan suggested putting them between frames 1 and 2, but i just done
think there is enough room to weld them in. So they are going to be like
Jons.
