Thanks for this information. The reduced priced accommodations will allow
me to participate this year. As a note when reviewing the price of flights,
flying into Portland was much more economical than Bangor when I was
comparing flights. While it is a longer drive to Castine from Portland, the
scenery is fantastic!

Due to a lack of lodging facilities in Rockland Maine because of the Lobster
Festival, the 2008 PSUBS Convention will be moving to the Maine Maritime
Academy in Castine, Maine. The dates remain the same.
All events will occur on the college campus in Castine Maine. The college
location resolves all the issues that we could not surmount in Rockland, and
has all the services we need to conduct the convention. The location has a
boat launch, and we are investigating possible use of the college's "travel
lift" for launch and recovery operations. Additionally, the college has
air-filling capabilities that we are looking into as well. There is plenty
of parking space.
The preferred lodging for this years convention will be the dorm rooms of
the college which will cost $48/per night, per room. Each room contains 2-4
beds and because the rate is per room, you can share the cost by doubling or
tripling up with other people. This is NOT a requirement, only an option.
There are plenty of dorm rooms available for single occupancy. Please see

Other lodging options are available and information is posted on the web
site.
Please contact me if you want lodging in the dorm rooms. Otherwise, you are
responsible for your own lodging reservations at alternative locations.
For those traveling by air to Maine, Bangor International Airport will be
your preferred destination. It is approximately 1.5 hour drive to Castine.
Your other option is Portland International Jetport, however the drive from
Portland to Castine will be approximately 3 hours.
