Hi P-subs.

Can someone please give me a steer on acrylic hatch suppliers.  I am wanting to build / design a 2 man twin hatch, saltwater, 1 atmosphere, 250 ft depth sub. I live in New Zealand. So don’t have the access to suppliers easily.

So far I have spent about 2 months on design and have found the forum great.  Had to change the design a couple of times after getting PVHO, and some of the requirements of ABS.

The worst one was the 30” from water level to hatch opening.  I cant go very far until I have a supplier for the acrylic dome.  Was wanting a 30” OD flanged design and have emailed various

People to find out where I can buy 2 domes but had no responses.  Tried Reynolds, Cadillac and some others. I would prefer to get an existing mould design and thickness and this will then dictate the rest of the hull options I can use.

I have bought K-350 plans and Stachiws acrylic handbook  to help me understand what works but I am at a standstill til I sort out the Domes. So far the weight is about 5200 lbs and I am struggling to get the weight down.

I want it to be easily trailerable inclusive of a docking vessel and max weight for towing by car is 3.5 tons including trailer.   Another question is has anyone done a sub in Stainless steel?

Best regards,

Hugh Fulton
