Hi Carsten,
I concur with the zinc-rich epoxy primer as the
best choice for the first coat.
A couple of things to keep in mind
however.
Be sure of the recoat window before applying.
Usually Zinc has a long recoat period, but if this period is exceeded you may
have to resandblast.
Any zinc coatings MUST be applied over a SSPC6
Commercial blast finish or better usually with a 1.5 to 2.0 mil
profile.
I will be using a zinc rich epoxy primer base coat,
followed by a high solids epoxy intermediate coat. I have not decided what I
will be using for a topcoat yet.
