Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Dalgleish project

Frank,

I was looking at your pictures and found it to be interesting that at first look I thought I was looking at your little test model. Then I noticed your test model framed center through one of the full sized viewport holes. Nice touch.  I notice how nice of bevel you have on your two heads the collar piece.  How did you have that cut?  For flat pieces that I will leave as is or later roll I figured I would use my relatives little track rolling machine that we attach his oxyacetylene torch to and set the drive speed according to thickness.  Also a local steel supplier just acquired an really powerful laser cutting machine that might be able to cut nice bevels fast and smooth. I can easily produce the DXF or DWG 2D drawing files they need to cut my parts, so it's faster for me. I could grind them by hand, but since most of use know how much fun that is, and I need them cut anyways, I might as well have it done all in one cut.  As for your heads, I though they would of likely been cut at the factory using some sort of device that holds the heads and then spins them through a cutter like plasma or oxyacetylene. But they look really smooth, much like I see in some wire EDM cuts or aqua jet cuts.

Regards,
Brent

Hi Jon. Good idea. I never thought about scale. It's kinda hard to get a feeling for it's size now that I look at the pictures. I'll take one in a few days, when the weather improves. Frank D.
