To add to that - it is a good idea to pressure compensate oil filled spaces - particularly those containing electronic components - to some pressure above ambient. This can be accomplished with a soft bladder somewhere in the connected oil system which is spring loaded to develop a bit of pressure in the system. This serves to ensure that if a leak does develop, you have silicone oil leaking out and not seawater leaking in, and also takes care of the thermal expansion / contraction problem, at the expense of a slight variation in system pressure.
