RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Hatch fabrication dilemma

I agree 100% with Dan on the thruster pivots, I've used that same simple method without problems. But I'd like to suggest something different for your electrical connectors. Weld in a flat SS ring similar to the seat for a viewport, which mates with a flat SS bulkhead sealed with an o-ring. When you've settled on your penetrators drill appropriate holes in the removable bulkhead. The advantage is that if your penetrator needs change over time, you just drill additional holes or make new bulkheads, without any welding or cutting. Credit for this penetrator bulkhead practice goes to Phil Nuytten!

thanks,

Alec

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the input. I had thought of that but was worried about o-ring
joint. Since I will be using lipped seals I should have a bit more
tolerance.

Your plan certainly will be a lot less work! Good stuff!
Thanks,
