RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] RFC - Radio communications for submersible dive operations



Hi,

Just so everyone knows. The safety committee is
looking into possibilities for underwater
communications since radios have limitations
underwater. We have yet to come to any conclusions for
a reasonable cost recommendation. 

Currently we are looking at scratch built, kit built,
or off the shelf alternatives for sub-to-sub and
surface-to-sub communications. If you have any ideas
or recommendations we can look at by all means speak
up.

Our tenative schedule is to have something decided for
use for the 2009 PSUBS Convention. Which means soon
enough that owners can retrofit their subs in time.

Other projects the safety committe is working on are a
standardized buoy and more fomalized dive operations
plan. Both are going to be critical when operating in
USCG waters at the 2008 PSUBS Convention. 

Just thought you would like a glimpse of some of the
behind the scenes work. Details will be shared when
appropiate.
