Hi Carsten,

That was plasma cutting. I wouldn't chance my camera
on an actual arc weld. I was concerned that an arc
might burn out the CCD in my camera.

Yes, you can arc weld without hand gloves. You don't
want to but you can.

Back in High School in the late 70's I had a metal
shop class. One day I forgot gloves and stick welded
anyway. After for an hour I had a really bad sunburn
that lasted for days. It was worse then I ever had
from the sun.
