RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] convention.

Joe,

Discussions between Jon, Ray, Vance, and myself concluded that early June 2009 would probably be the best so that we get calm weather for potential sub dives in the ocean and not into high hurricane season yet.  Vance is working on some leads to have the convention in the Ft. Pierce area which would allow use to tour Harbour Branch with their submersibles and the UDT/SEAL Museum, have something to look at when diving just offshore, and a fall back of the turning basin inside if the weather turns snotty.

Plans are well underway for the 2008 convention to be held in the area close to George Kittredge’s location.  The Maine Maritime Academy is one consideration but may be to far away.  The focal point will be the local lobster fest and George’s 90th birthday.  I have some research to conduct in New England in a few days and will extend my trip to Maine for some preliminary reconnoitering.  Haven’t seen George in years, would like to stop by “Dynamite” Payson’s small boat shop, and will look at various options for launching PSUBs.

A skimmer afloat is but a submarine, so poorly built it will not plunge…

Maybe so Jon but, "49 degrees in August", is nothing short of obscene!

Incidentally, I haven't paid close attention to your convention timing, but for some future potential Florida convention I would recommend early fall rather than the height of summer. You Northern boys just might melt away! :)

Kidding aside, it would be a bit more tolerable.

Joe
