Hi, Joe!
Hunh! . . . is it the use of electronics that you find 'scary'? All the
electronic stuff that we use in the DeepWorker anDual DeepWorker series(
and it is extensive!) is all convenience and non-essential control and
monitoring. No life support system or other safety items are without
manual/analog back-up. The monitoring is just that : very nice to know
exactly how much battery you have left and how long it will last have at
current system draw/load - but not essential. Likewise, things like water
alarm - the electronics give you a plan or profile cartoon view of the sub
and tells you exactly where the sensor is detecting moisture - the audible
alarm buzzer or flashing light is there, also.and is independant of the
diagnostic screens. Same with auto-altitude, auto depth, etc., for cable or
pipe surveys for example - it's sure nice to get your cameras and lighting
set up exactly the way you want it for the subs distance above the bottom,
then tap the screen and have the sub maintain that distance above bottom no
matter much much the bottom contours vary.(have to reset for cliffs, tho')
Most efficient, but not essential.
