James,
Your sub can catastrophically fail from 0 to 200 feet just as
easily as a sub designed for deeper. It takes years of welding practice to
really know what you are doing as far as welding goes. Unless you have
welded numerous joints and then cut them in half and inspected them over a
period of time you may not have the consistancy that is needed. For some
non critical areas you may be able to get away with less quality welds.
