You see now here is what I'm talking about fun! I think I may have seen this before, perhaps you may have posted it previously, it appears to be shareware but, if there would be bugs in the software,... it would be beyond my capability to deal with it.
Still....While employing such systems may seem on the "surface",.... to be overly complex, I believe we can design our subs core systems to be as simple and bullet proof as possible, while leaving room for the fun stuff like this software running on a bullet proof laptop. If it breaks down, oh well.
If Alvin Jr. is indeed in my future, it's always been my intention to include all manner of goodies apart from the subs basic systems...why not! In this case, I would use a fixed omni directional hydrophone for recording sea life sounds, as Alvin Jr is designed to be accompanied by, and in contact with a surface support vessel. But, Alvin Jr. would in fact have a "science rack" installed along with a manipulator and tiny ROV ala (video ray).
Do I need all this stuff?....heck no! But it is what Peter is talking about the "Spirit" within vessels. With all this Alvin Jr. is indeed ..."Alive", without it, well...you might as well fill it with propane!
