Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Distress Buoy



Øystein ,

As soon as I got this model done I was thinking about just the thing your talking about. If I only had rope attached to the buoy and had to cut the rope, then your right it could tip over and stay on it's side.  I was intending this buoy to be attached with cable to the sub, and in that case the cable would weigh down the center of the buoy and keep it up right.  But I may need to release this buoy, and even in that case the weight of the cable would likely keep it up right.  How ever I do think I will design another one with some sort of weight down a foot or more, like your talking about, and see what you think of that model. Keep in mind these buoys are going to be attached to the top of one sub so having an easy shape on the bottom of the buoy that will fit the shape of the top of your sub will be better.
