Yea...would be nice to "play" with but, looks like the deal is she has to remain static. So that commits her to dockside, or better yet, dry land, museum status. So profitability, or at least maintainability, requires a free or nearly free, place to keep it.

Too, too bad, nice capability going to retire now!

Those are Navy dollars--you know, the land of $632 hammers and $1200 toilet seats. But they're expensive to operate. I wonder how real dollar outlay would compare to a modern tourist sub. They aren't saying, but the Dolphin had a hefty depth capability, too. And Greyhound bus engines!!! Vance

What I find interesting, is the Navy's yearly maintenance outlay of 18 million. I wonder what the real number would be in private sector terms. Set up a quick non-profit dockside tourist museum at the Palm Beach Inlet, and pay yourself a salary Vance!
