RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Steel Pipe Hull
Doug,
I'm
not sure if this is what you are looking for, but check out the PSUBS web
forum. Go to www.psubs.org/webforum, then choose the
Design/Engineering category, then click on "Pressure Vessel Design
Charts".

Ok, it's the same question as before but without the "F-glass"
word that killed the vis last time
around.
Lets say we are building a 1ATM battery box. If a steel pipe is rated at 1000 psi. The same
pipe without frames, will not be able to withstand 1000 psi of external force
due to problems with roundness. But there must be some ratio or formula
that can define this loss of performance
for any given diameter, plate thickness and roundness.
Does that make
sense, and isn't there some chart that mechanical engineers use for this
when building all the piping that passes
through pressure vessels? Where is that chart?
Thanks
