RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Perry lockout

The capability to deco at 66 ft. (3 atmos.) with pure O2 in a decompression chamber is much more desirable.  This is typically what you will find in a hospital.  Care has to taken in what materials are used in the building and preservation of the chamber.  For all this trouble, it is easier to jump back in with a full face mask from a boat as Vance notes.  If you look at deco calcs you will find tat the O2 will accelerate the deco process plus there is the added benefit of the “oxygen window” that further speeds deco.  If there is an incident, the pure O2 is more effective in assisting with minimizing secondary injury around the “hit” from blocked blood flow.

Brent,

Yup, got it now. I don't know why you'd want a 2 atm DLO. It's a LOT of trouble for 30 feet of water, which is easily accessible from the inflatable. However, that's the cool thing about the psubbers. Everybody's head is screwed on to a slightly different torque, and it's fun to see what they're thinking.
