I'm a young buck that needs to get glasses. I was making my font size larger so it was a little easier to read, but if that is not preferred here I'll cut it out. My spelling tends to be better if I can see what I'm reading, so be careful what you wish for. :)' You can tell I'm a newbie because I forgot the d in Kittredge, but where's the fun of being a newbie if you don't have growing pains, right.
The last pic in the last set of links I sent has a pic that shows the side view ports slanted downward. Perhaps this is one of George's 12 subs after all, but with a couple changes after it left his hands.
Mr. Kittredge also answered my question about overlapping steel on the outside of a sub. I figured it would be a rust problem if there was a hole in a weld, but I wanted to hear it from someone else that's seen more rust then I.
The grabber arm up front has a horizontal shaft that has threads at the end that goes into a nut that is welded onto a metal strip that interlocks with the top of the back arms vertical angle iron pair. That said rod then goes through the hull to perhaps a hand crank. Here's the only pic I didn't show you.

Not the best pic, but at the time I didn't know what I was looking for. Only the back half of the arm moves. You can see the through hull connection of the said shaft just above the large front view port in one of the other close-up pictures. I see that the KM-350 Lake Diver sub has a grabber arm very much like it in one of John's pics showing his sub on a crane. I also see it's the same arm type on the sub drawing on the PSUB home page.
I'd interested to know what the four small 2" vertical facing rods with the square ends are for that are welded onto the sides of the pressure hull just below and adjacent to the conning tower?? Perhaps they used them to attach some sort of decking or extra side soft ballast tanks for rougher water.
I also was interested in why there are very small vertical rods welded to the metal ring that covers the base of the domed hatch? Does another ring go on top of that, which has a handle on it?

Brent, Is there some specific reason you are running such enormous type on your emails? Even short messages take lots of space. Vance

This is to much like fun. I guess there is one or maybe two people out there that like the Kittrege subs. :)'The view ports have the beveled metal supports, so that was a nice feature. I'm not sure if I know what you mean by VASH prototype. The only VASH I know of is the Bionic Dolphin which is a Variable Attitude Submersible Hydrofoil. But hey bolt on some hydrofoils, a Corvette motor, and a pair of sunglasses and you can have a Kittrege VASH like no other. All right that's enough goofing off, here are the rest of the pictures. So if we know who it was built for, who built it and where???Brent Hartwig
