Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] More Dehumidifier

Hi Patrick,

I may have missed it but, power consumption may be a problem there, pumps to run the circulating water..etc. What's attractive about the chemical canister scenario, is the possibility of circulating air with low voltage fans, and quick easy disposable inserts through a simple canister.

Jay's comment regarding the rebreather guys using this chemical in pellets and a simple stocking filter lead me to believe the above should be a relatively simple affair. With 100% humidity to deal with and a chemical that likes water so much, adding complexity to the system for differential temperature may not be necessary.

However. I wonder about rate of absorption. Someone has to do some calculating. If it would take a huge canister to lower the humidity 10% for 10 minutes...then the point is fairly moot. But, if you can get the humidity down to comfortable levels for the duration of one dive, then it becomes worth it.

has thermoelectric cooling (chillers) been discussed as an option for dehumidification yet?
i'm still catching up.
