Thanks Paul
It seems that both IVC and Caribbean Subs have some type of automatic compensation mechanisms in their ambients. Apparently a measured flow for occupants and an on demand flow in concert with check valves for overpressure in the cabin bubble to keep buoyancy under some reasonable control.
My project is doable but as I suspected may be the case, at a reduced scale. So much for my initial "irrational exuberance!"

Joe, yes I saw movement of the cabin air bubble as a problem in a semi-dry ambient. Seems like either some really constrained area for the air bubble - around your head - or else a fully wet or dry passenger compartment seems desirable for most boats. Unless the design is more of a diving bell that doesn't much move or tilt I'd be worried about the center of buoyancy moving around too much.
