Since I could not get my photos to upload at moki,
I uploaded them to one of the websites I moderate.
You can see them at the below link at the yahoo
groups site called "The Warbird Recovery Team" under "photos" and look for
"My two person electric powered wetsub" You
have to have joined yahoo to join my free site and see the
photos.
I got my minnkota motor mounted to my wetsub as you
can see in the photos section of the above link. Now I have a question. Since my
minnkota is a 24 volt motor can I use a 12 volt solonoid to connect the
batteries to the motor? I plan on using the
motor sometimes at 12 volts for half speed, and
other times at 24 volts for full speed. I might be mounting a waterproof
toggle switch to my sub's dash and having low voltage going to the switch which
when thrown will close the circuit in the solonoid which will then
complete the circuit
from the batteries to the motor. Does anyone know much about this and could I
just use an automotive solonoid encased inside a piece of waterproof pvc pipe
seperate from the battery pvc pod? I might have several waterproof toggle
switches on the
dash, but I would rather have a variable
speed ability but
I do not know where to get or if waterproof variable speed controllers are even
made. So I might have one toggle switch that will be a three position
switch. 24 volts for full speed, 12 volts for half speed, and the third
position is volts off. I also might have
another toggle
switch on the wetsubs dash to switch between forward and reverse. If anyone
knows how to hook up the solonoid and or knows of a waterproof variable speed
controller, please help.
Thanks, Bill.
