Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Caught in weeds...
The best I can come up with is, first of all avoid going through sea weed in
the first place. Even if you don't get entangled it may fowl a prop.
Second, if your entangled you can pressurize all your ballast tanks to
lighten the sub and try to break the weeds.
Third, release your drop weights to add even more lift.
If you still have one thruster that is operable, rocking the boat while your
going through the above steps might just give you the edge to break the
weeds free. If your still entangled after all that, your in trouble!
Now it's wait for help, and if that doesn't arrive, as a very very last
resort, try to flood and escape.
If the sub was designed to release the thrusters or release the hull from
the thrusters, you would have a better chance of surviving entanglement.
Weeds can be a problem but monofilament line and nets can be stronger and
even a bigger problem.
I have never been entangled but the above is my plan if it happens.

tho in this situation it was a mistake that could have been easily avoided
we sould consider solutions to this problem. the last two psub reports
both mentioned having problems with sea weed || prop. do u know any good
solutions or preventetive mesures???
Yes but subs dive deeper than divers can go.So what do
you do if you get entagled in very deep waters?
