Re:Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] question??
Ok, I am going to need my two hard ballasts (front, back) to increase the
overall density of my sub until it is almost as heavy as the water it
displaces and more or less horizontal. Moveable trim weights will enable me
to counteract small lean, tilt effects. A large part of this trim weight
will be preset and detachable encase positive buoyancy is required in an
emergency situation.
I will have a second ballast system to regulate the depth of my sub. This
ballast system must be precise and therefore a central piston ballast would
be suitable. By increasing the volume of water inside past the point of
density = 1.03g\cm3, my sub will descend. I can create negative\positive
buoyancy as I wish by increasing\decreasing the overall density past the
hovering point.
I hope my above stated view of the situation will enable me to construct an
effective and safe mechanism to regulate the depth of my sub. I plan to
start construction of the hull next summer and be ready to launch within a
two month period. By then I will have all of the internal systems ready for
installation.
I am already very grateful to this forum for having helped my plans to
evolve. It helps just listening to problems or potential problems that
others have had or have thought of. Encase help is wanted with psubs.org I
can html, java, graphics.
