Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] sub com



I don't think understanding speech would be that easy but I was at 43 feet
of depth and somewhere above me a boat was tilting his outboard in
preparation for loading at a close by boat ramp.  I could hear the whine of
the hydraulic actuator very clearly in my sub.  It has a 1/4 inch steel
hull.

I was thinking along the same lines after hearing that sound.  I wonder, if
I put an underwater microphone in the water at the shore line and was a
couple of hundred yards out and talking out loud in the sub, could I be
picked up with the microphone.  I'm guessing not legible speech but I bet
sounds could be heard.

If I find a mic at a price to experiment with, I'll give it a try someday.
