[PSUBS-MAILIST] acrylic domes

I've seen a common design for entering a submersible, using an acrylic
dome as the hatch.

Some examples I've seen this on are Deep Flight (
http://www.deepflight.com/subs/dfa.htm ), the craft by Seamagine (
http://www.seamagine.com/models.htm ), etc.

According to the design guidelines written by Ray Keefer on the
psubs.org website, there isn't alot of research/testing done on the
dome design. Is anyone aware of any solid data pertaining to this?

Also, I'm curious - in the images and various videos I've downloaded
from respective websites, there doesn't appear to be much of a locking
mechanism to secure the dome to the submersible and keep a few hundred
gallons of water out of the 1atm environment. Does anybody have any
information, or know the location of information, on what locking
mechanisms and seals can be used for this?

Thanks in advance,

-Simon
