I placed in WoodenBoat magazine, in about June of 1996, 
a question about wooden submarines.    I got one 
letter in reply.

It was from Henry Agard, whom I took to be about 60
years old.  He sent to me about a dozen photos -- I have
them before me now -- and a short note.

He wrote:

"I am building a wooden submarine.  I don't have
real plans -- just ideas, sketches, and high school
physics."

He said the two occupants sit astride the (internal)
main ballast tank.  Was that true of the boat on e-bay?

At the time, he lived in Sunnyvale CA.  Anyone near 
there?  I can provide his address.
