Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Oh !! the choices

Hello Mark

I think it's all about maneuverability.  There are other concerns like cost, simplicity, redundancy, top speed, and reducing the potential for snagging an obstacle.  But the Sport Sub can use its thrusters for turning without the need for forward momentum, and it also uses then for maneuvering in close to obstacles like reefs for viewing.  The single fixed stern drives like the Biber are good for speed, avoiding mines and nets, and best for maneuvering in relation to surface targets.  Unless your planing on chasing boats, whales, or delivering divers to a work site I think more maneuverability may outweigh the complexity.

I'd be interested to know more about your design and it's intended purpose.

Have a nice day

Subject: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Oh !! the choices

Can anyone tell me which is a better system?
Rear mounted prop and control gear as used on the wwII German Biber (or Beaver) sub or the dive plane mounted
prop as used on the sportsub. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each system?
I am trying to design an ambient pressure sub and cannont find enough evidence to make a choice.
If anyone can suggest any material that would help me make the decision that would be great.

Also has anyone ever built a Delta wing? http://www.scubatow.com/sub.html as I find the plans a little lacking in
some areas
