Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] New Member

Hi Steve
Thanks for the site and for welcoming me. The purpose of the sub is to eventually have a manipulator to do some biological testing on the water of the Medeteranian sea. So I am not in the usa, nor in Canada (that is where I am from) (Windsor, Ontario). I am a physics teacher so for now I only care about making the sub goes as deep as 100 meters. It will be a 2 persons sub. made of steel. I was really considering fibre glass but I dont have much trust in who ever gonna do that. The university will not allow me to get funding from the private sector, but I think that the $20,000 will be enough. Incase it is not enough I can always push them to give me some extra cash.
Thank you for the info regarding the shaft and engine.
 Best regards
Tarek

Welcome Tarek !

Can you tell us a bit more about your sub?

Designed depth? Size, one man...2? Fiberglass, steel?

As far as funding, have you tried the private sector? [ or is that a
no-no
at your institution? ] Some businesses may not give money, but
will donate parts and equipment for a little publicity and maybe their
decal on your sub. If private funding is allowed you and your students
might want to consider a letter writing campaign. "MTS" and "MATE"
have a list of sponsors and contributors on their webpage.
Start there...you never know!?
