[PSUBS-MAILIST] Psubs Rules

In the Rules are something like :

"The material hast to be certified, tested and new.. "

If we get something like that it will keep 95% of all Psubs out of
order.. including my two.

Please gentelman - as an old british Steamgunboat Admiral about
the disskusion "submarine in the navy or not" about year 1900 told :

"Don't touch it."

Anybody how build a psub is free to use what ever he want to use -
rules, white papers, his expierence, other guys expierence - so why
making more paragraphs ? There are only some hundreds psubbers in the
world - most of them very indivdual persons, crazy, genius, barkeepers
or engineers.. give them rules, polices and traffic laws for there sub
and this all will come to an commerzial end.

The SAR crafts of the german rescue society are build without rules -
only with white papers between sailors, rescue mens and engineers - its
not possible to build this vessels with this performance according to
rules ..

Sample :

Rules : The navigation lights has to be 2 meters ( 6,6 feet) higher than
the xyz -lights and the top light has to be 2 meters on top of it..

Rescue Helicopter pilot which should cooperate with this vessel:
"Oh my good.."

Naval Architect : hmm.. 1,2 meter (4 feet) difference should be okay
for this vessel..

Rules: The stairhouses has to be at least a beam of 800 mm ( 2,6 feet)
between the walls.

Seaman : I want a tight fit stairhouse of 500 mm ( 1,64 feet) so I can
squezze my body on both walls during a heavy storm..

Naval Architect: If you can live with 500 its okay for me, but we should
realize that somebody with a broken arm can use the stair - I would say
600 mm.. (1,97 feet)

We lost about four Psubs size subs the last 30 years. Three of them
were build according to the rules. One was a heart-attack (human
failture), one runs into a wreck and miss to get free, the other runs
into a wreck and broke a window. Only one was a mistake by the private
inventor...
