I too have a question about a seal.  In regards to an ambient design, does one use a gasket (rubber / weatherstripping, etc) to maintain a seal?

Hi All,   I'm in the middle of a hatch design and I'm not clear on whether or not the hatch rings (where the hatch seals to the boat) needs to be stainless steel or not?  Could someone enlighten me on this.  Thanks
