Just an interjection from a paranoid old hippie but lead poisoning from their state of the art (for the time) plumbing is considered by many scholars as a major contributor to the fall of the Roman Empire. Our bodies simply aren't equipped with a mechanism to excrete heavy metals and the effects are usually permanently debilitating (severe neurological dysfunction), so *please* make sure you have adequate ventilation and preferably a lead-specific respirator when melting lead.
